June Update
Hey Survivors,
It's a bit of a short blog this week. As you can probably guess, the team at QI Games is hard at work on the next Closed Alpha update for Dead Matter. Since we're in the middle of heavy development of the game, we don’t have a lot to share with you this week. Our entire team is putting in the hours to deliver on some pretty awesome features and get us one step closer to early access. You can expect some news on our next update later this summer.
However, we can share that we’ve further expanded our team over the last month!
We’ve filled key positions for Dead Matter’s development, so I'm going to invite our Head of Studio, Derek Czerkaski, to add a few words about our new hires.
Derek reporting for duty. I’m pleased to announce that we’re winding down the final planned phase of our “ramp” over the next two weeks. As of writing this section, we’ve added a dedicated AI Programmer to the team to help emphasise the capabilities of our infected. We also recruited a Tools and Automation Programmer for the code team to expand our bug and crash capture capabilities and the efficiency of our tools under the hood for the development team. We’ve also recruited an Environmental Technical Artist to join the art team, which should result in drastic improvements due to having a dedicated resource to bridge the gap between the art and the code teams.
While we haven’t finalised our ramp quite yet, we expect to add a dedicated Character Rigger and a dedicated 3rd Person Animator to the team within the next two weeks. All that will remain is a seat for an additional gameplay programmer. With a little luck, all of our hard work and planning from the Spring seems to be coming to fruition. Our resting development team size should land at about 34 team members! (For perspective, we began the year with a team about a third of that size)
Blog Posts Update
We are transitioning to a single blog post at the end of the month, with the occasional update-related blog post now and then. The reason is that we want these Blog Posts to showcase substantial pieces of information for Dead Matter rather than smaller development updates that frankly don’t give much insight into the actual changes happening to the game. Transitioning to a monthly blog post allows us to better reflect on our development progress and focus on key changes coming to Dead Matter. Our next blog post will come out on the last Friday of July 2022.
Conclusion
That’s all we have to share with you for now. We will share more news later this summer. For now, have a great summer and call your moms.
Cheers,
Anton
