October 1st Update

Hey Survivors!

Spooktober is finally here! We are 1 Month away from the spoopiest time of the year as well as our experimental release of 0.7.0 which will be coming out on October 31st.

Just as a heads up to all of our followers out there, we will be changing the way that we title our updates. Having our posts named by date was important to us because we wanted to demonstrate our commitment to getting these out every week.

If you go through all of the previous posts in the news feed, you can see that we have been achieving this goal for quite some time.

Level Design

This weeks update is all about level design, we have some awesome areas to show off. The team has been crunching long hours to get everything ready for the update. One of the biggest elements of this is getting the map ready to go.

First up we have some shots from a nearly untouched family home. A seemingly preserved slice of the Canadian dream; a child’s bedroom. Was it left alone because there wasn’t anything worthy of a survivor’s backpack? Or are the inhabitants still defending their sliver of refuge?...

Next up are some shots from a storage facility that’s been ransacked for its hidden treasures. Like a bad episode of storage wars, you never know what’s behind that door! Huge shout out to Patryk once again for his hard work and ability to really tell a visual story with his design.

Our Lead Level Designer spent much of the week working on big scale landscape work but did find some time to build a small survivors camp. Defensively built in a compound formation with whatever they could get their hands on, we can only wonder where its inhabitants went.

Wrapping up our level design segment, we have a nice shot from Grant. Just a peaceful camp house by the Bow River. Don’t worry about the plywood barricades and extra brick work. Trust us, its totally normal. Feel free to stop by with all your tasty loot.

Thank You

A very special thanks to our fans that took the time to come out and say hi at the Calgary International Film Festival! It was an absolute pleasure to meet you all and we can’t wait for restrictions to loosen up and have the opportunity to meet more of our fellow survivors.

Wrapping up

Thanks again for keeping up with our updates, this week was a bit short as much of our focus is getting things wrapped up for the end of the month. A month away tends to feel like a week away here at the studio. In the meantime, remember to stop by the discord and check out our social media. We truly do appreciate hearing from each and every one of you.

Till next week… Stay safe or die trying Survivors!
